I don't even know where or how to start to describe the events that took place last weekend. The week started like any other week, Coop and I went to library, ran our usual errands and attended our weekly music class. However, on Thursday night, Jeff started to vacuum (not that Jeff helping out is unusual, he vacuums every week on the weekends and helps out so much around the house), but the fact that it was a Thursday made me initially think something was up, but I thought, "hey, don't look a gift horse in the mouth right?" Anyway, our Friday was fairly uneventful, other than Jeff calling me to tell me that he forgot to mention earlier in the week that his sweet mom and sister had gone in and set up a facial at my favorite spa for the next morning at 10; I was ecstatic!!!
Coop took his regular Friday afternoon nap and just as I was changing his diaper after he got up, I heard Jeff come in the front door which was unusual because it was so early. I walked (well, let's be honest, at this point of this pregnancy it is more of a waddle) to the top of the stairs and my best friend since the first grade, Sarah, and her adorably cute and rolly three month old sweet girl were standing in my living room having just flown in for a surprise visit from Seattle. I was so overwhelmed and happy to have her here and meet this new sweet addition to her family.
The next morning, I was really reluctant to go to the facial that was set up for me, but Sarah and Jeff assured me that Sarah new about it and she would be busy with her sweet little girl at that time anyway and that I had no choice to go. After some convincing and guilt, I went to this amazing spa treatment and was thoroughly relaxed; ready to head home ad catch up with my lifelong friend.
Unbeknownst to me, during the treatment, my awesome husband, sweet best friend and amazing friend from Utah were working fast and hard to set up the sweetest, most elegant and beautiful surprise baby shower I have ever seen. Jeff and my friend Jessica worked for weeks to plan and organize this thoughtful and amazingly unexpected baby shower and I was truly humbled and overwhelmed. Dozens of family and close friends sent the most adorable and generous gifts, we had the most delicious lunch and delectable desserts I have ever tasted; I can truly say I was surprised and speechless.
