And then he was one.

I can remember so vividly going to the doctor for the first time when I was pregnant with Cooper and Dr. Laine told us that my due date was going to be April 19, 2013.  She told Jeff and I that of course our baby (which we did not know was a boy yet) could be born before that or after, of course, but that we wouldn't let him go over a week late.  Doing some quick math, I said, "so he could be born on April 26th?  Looking at me, she said "yes, is that okay?"  I just giggled to myself, because I can remember hearing the story from my mom on how her due date with me was April 19th, 1984, but that I did not want to come into the world and stayed in for an entire week after the due date and was born on April 26, 1984.  Well, as luck or fate would have it, Cooper followed in his momma's footsteps and stayed in that extra week, giving this mom the best birthday gift anyone could ever ask for.

So our boy is ONE!!  We had such a great party and were so blessed to have a enormous amount of family fly and drive from far away to come to our party.  As we have learned living in Salt Lake for the past two and a half years, spring is the most unpredictable season of the four.  The week before the big birthday bash, it was 75 and gorgeous with no clouds in the sky and not a breath of wind.  Then that all changed....  The Monday before the party the forecast was calling for rain, rain and more rain (oh no!!).  Don't worry though, Superdad came to the rescue and rented a 20x40 foot tent with heaters to set up in our backyard to make the most perfect 1st and 30th birthday ever!!

Thinking back to a year ago, WOW!! A lot has changed, that is for sure.  This last year has taught Jeff and I so many important lessons that I didn't even know we needed to learn or would learn.  I feel so lucky that I get to share a birthday with my sweet, smart, funny son and will look forward to so many more birthday's to come.

All set up, just in time for the party to start!

The yummy food.

Don't worry, Payton will keep an eye on the food table, just in case.

The birthday boy and girl checking out the balloons.  Balloons were by far Cooper's favorite part of the party.

Daddy and Coop, sure love these expressions.

Coop got a lot of Grandma time in.

I got one!

Let the cupcake eating begin!

Yum!

All for me?

Bring me another.

Our sweet family, even Payton.

Our party was even complete with a Pinata that Grammy shipped from Arizona.  The big kids thought this was the best thing ever!

The birthday boy getting come solid balloon time in.

And that's a wrap!
